1. How to create an account?
Creating an account with us is simple. You just need to provide your active email address. Below are the steps for creating an account:
- Go to 'My Data Basket' option from the menu available at the top right of the screen.
- Go to Sign-Up, type your email address in the given field.
- Enter the CAPTCHA shown on the screen. The CAPTCHA is case-sensitive.
- Click 'Submit' button.
- You should get a message on the top left of the screen if the account is created successfully.
- You should also receive a system generated email from '[email protected]' on your email address just provided to us. This email contains your initial system generated password with some easy to follow instructions.
You should change your password the first time you sign-in to the system.
In case you do not receive any email, please check you junk email folder or contact your system administrator if they have not blocked this email.
2. I do not remember my password. How do I reset it?
If you have forgotten your password, don't worry. Follow the below steps to recover your password:
- Go to 'My Data Basket' option available at the top right of your screen.
- Go to Login tab shown at the top left of your screen.
- Click on the 'Request Password' link. You will be shown a screen asking for your email address and CATCHA shown on the screen.
- Enter the email address and CAPTCHA in the given boxes.
- Click on Submit. The system should show you a message if your email address is found in our record.
- Check your email address and click on the link provided in the email. This should take you to a screen where you can reset your password.
- Enter your new password in the 'New Password' and then re-type the same in the 'Confirm Password' box. Follow the Password Guidelines to set a strong password.
- Click on Submit button. If all goes well, the system will show you a success message. You may now login to the system with your email address and newly created password.
3. How to convert long format data to wide format?
To convert long format data to wide format is just a few clicks away using the MS-Excel bas
ed utility avaialbale at https://www.sbp.org.pk/ecodata/TransformingLongFormatdatatoWideFormat.xlsm. You can also transform the long format data to wide format using MS-Excel yourself by following the steps given below:
- Open the dataset downloaded from EasyData in Microsoft Excel.
- In Excel, select all data by pressing CTRL+A (holding down the CTRL key and press A).
- Go to Insert tab. Click on Pivot Table. A 'Create PivotTable' dialog box will appear.
- Click OK button by accepting all defaults settings. This will create a new sheet in Excel.
- Open the newly created sheet in Excel. You can see a pivot table control and its Fields control.
- From the PivotTable fields, drag 'Observation Date' and drop in the COLUMNS.
- Then from the PivotTable fields, drag 'Observation Value' and drop in the VALUES.
- Then from the PivotTable fields, drag 'Sequence No.' and drop in the ROWS.
- Now, from the PivotTable fields, drag 'Series Name.' and drop in the ROWS. You are now ready with wide data format.
4. How to compare two or more variables on a chart?
To compare one or more variables, you first need to create a data basket by using “My Data Basket” option of EasyData. Please see our other 'How To' on how to create a data basket.
Once you have more than one variables in your basket, you can compare them on a single chart. Below are the steps to do this:
- Go to 'My Data Basket' option available at the top right of your screen. You can also access your basket from home page.
- You should now see a list of variables in your basket categorized by frequency. You should also see a check box beside each variable.
- Check up to 5 desired variables. All selected variables should have same data frequency. If the frequencies of your selected variables is different, you may observe some breaks in the chart for low frequency data.
- Press 'View Chart of Selected Series' button. This will take you to a multi-variable chart screen. Here you can play around the chart controls given at the right side of the screen. Please see another how-to and read through the "About Chart Controls" section on chart screen.
5. How to create a data basket?
If you have an account with us, you already have a data basket with us.
To add a variable to your data basket, just go to the chart of a variable and click on 'Add to My Data Basket' button. You may not see t
his button, if you already have this variable in your basket.
6. How to work with chart controls?
The charts on EasyData provides you with an intuitive yet user-friendly interface. The chart screen is accompanied with ‘About Chart Control’ section that guides you how to change the look and feel of your chart.
